Megatron Rebuilt (RID) by glovestudios Megatron Rebuilt (RID) by glovestudios
So I finally took a moment to upload my design for Megatron's newest appearance in IDW comics, from Robots in Disguise. Included are my ideas for colors, but I think Josh used colors that were slightly different for the book as I only ever shared a b&w drawing with him.

This is the body he was rebuilt into after shedding his ruined stealth jet body around issue #14 of RID.

Was intended to be something of the quintessential Megatron, mixing the look and feel of his G1 design with more contemporary designs like the one from Stormbringer and Megatron: Origin.

Megatron was also designed to have a look that could fit technologically as a modular unit of the rebuilt Devastator, sharing certain design features with the Constructicons from RID.

Such a shame Michael Bay p*ssed all over the series, if only he woulda used designs as brilliant as this.

This is just badarse. Is this what the new Hasbro Leader toy is being based off of? Because that would be swell.

Maybe now he'll never transform into a gun again.

No offense to everyone who likes the little deluxe bomber plane Megatron, but this would've been a much more interesting Megatron to do first, but then again, Hasbro can still surprise me, so I'm not ruling it out completely.

I like him, he looks tough, just one thing, why does megatron have to have those squiggly lines along his Decepticon logo?

Those are an homage to the original G1 toy, which transformed into a Walther P-38 pistol… . It too had those "squiggly lines", as you called them (the proper term is "filligree" ).

Poor Megatron, he didn't even get the chance to really strut his stuff across the galaxy in his new threads.  I blame Wheeljack.  He's afraid of fashion.  Who knows, maybe after a few years of a little tyranny everyone will be sporting Megs favorite curly robo chest hairs.

As Unicronagent13 said, this design is very reminiscent of Megatron's design from War Within, not that that's a bad thing, particularly with the shoulder design, and placement of the treads. I'd love to see the vehicle mode.
